Entering the 2018 camp season, PEOC has made multiple changes to the camp format and structure. Nearly every aspect of the camp experience, both large and small, has been upgraded and enhanced this season.
At the completion of each PEOC camp over the past six seasons, "Camp Feedback Forms" have been collected from all participants. This season, PEOC focused on the topics that were most often mentioned to enhance and improve each participant's experience at all camp levels in 2018.
PEOC strives to create a new, exciting experience for both first-time and returning participants in 2018.
At the request of many past camp participants, PEOC has altered the structure of each camp weekend in 2018.
This season, each PEOC camp will begin on a Friday evening and end on the following Sunday afternoon.
This setup gives all PEOC participants the ability to not have to depart their hometown until Friday morning of camp, no matter where they are coming from. Pittsburgh is just a few hours drive from many cities throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Mid-West regions of the United States, and Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) brings in flights from all over North America numerous times per day.
Whether you are driving or flying to the Pittsburgh area to attend PEOC in 2018, this new camp structure will save you time and money by allowing you to depart day-of camp, saving money on (now needless) pre-camp hotel stays and other travel expenses.
NEW! INCREASED AFFORDABILITY
Participants will notice that all 2018 PEOC Camp Registration Fees have decreased from the 2017 camp season.
This was made possible from assistance from our sponsors, North Coast Hockey, Refcore, The Official's Wearhouse, HockeyRefShop.com, NoSweat, the Pittsburgh Amateur Hockey League and Advance Auto Parts.
NEW! DISCOUNTED HOST HOTEL RATES
PEOC participants now have the option of including a reduced hotel cost to their camp registration fee. This allows PEOC participants traveling to the Pittsburgh area for the camp(s) to purchase a hotel room at a reduced rate and be paired with another participant for the camp weekend and avoid the worry and hassle of finding hotel accommodations individually.
Participants utilizing this option will also receive free breakfast each morning at each participating PEOC host hotel.
NEW! ENHANCED ON-ICE EXPERIENCE
All PEOC participants will see a revamped on-ice experience during each camp weekend. From enhanced on-ice modules and referee and linesman specific drills, to new power skating sessions, to new officiating experiences with higher level games to officiate - each PEOC participant will benefit from the time on their skates in front of the PEOC Instruction Staff and camp guests.
CENTRALIZED, CONVENIENT LOCATION
PEOC will hold all three camps in 2018 at the Alpha Ice Complex in Pittsburgh, PA (Harmar Township). The Alpha Ice Complex is only 20 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh and 30 minutes from the Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT). The facility is conveniently located off Route 28 and Interstate 76 (Pennsylvania Turnpike).
The Alpha Ice Complex is home to the NA3HL's Pittsburgh Vengenace and the Chatham Cougars Division III hockey team.
CONTINUATION OF CLASSROOM "WORKSHOPS"
PEOC participants will see a drastic change in the classroom experience. To avoid long, drawn-out classroom sessions, PEOC has implemented new 30-minute maximum "Workshops". These "Workshops" will allow participants to be fully focused on each topic being presented and will avoid the discomfort and stress of long, over-extended classroom sessions. The 30-minute maximum also allows to many different topics to be covered throughout the camp weekend.
